Over the last year and a half, Road Science, LLC Account Manager, Lance Brooks, and his team have been working with the LADOTD (Louisiana Dept. of Transportation & Development) & LA Transportation Research Center (LTRC) to develop a “Spray Paver Thin Overlay” strategy. All efforts have been in response to the State’s need for quicker turn around on their flexible pavements. Completely customer-focused in nature, the relationship between Road Science and the LADOTD has been marked by the consultative expertise of Road Science and both organizations’ willingness to candidly share ideas. After extensive review among all nine of its districts, as well as the LTRC, the LADOTD’s solution is to implement a spray paver thin overlay as an alternate to every 2” mill-and-fill state-wide.
The implementation of this new strategy is paramount to the maintenance of Louisiana’s flexible pavements. Congratulations to the LADOTD! For more information on this particular strategy or Road Science’s expertise with flexible pavements, email lbrooks@roadsciencellc.com or call 918-524-7100.
