Road Science, LLC.

Technical Services

Road Science is driving innovation in applications, equipment, and materials in order to deliver higher performance products more simply and cost effectively to the road industry. As an integral part of our systems products, we provide the following services to ensure a successful project:

Marketing and Specification Services. Marketing and/or technical representatives will work with Agency personnel to facilitate the adoption of relevant specifications, standards and/or approvals for Road Science systems. Once in place, we will work with Agency personnel to identify roadways that are suitable candidates for a Road Science system.

On-Site Services. Includes the assessment of existing pavement conditions prior to construction, the collection of cores and aggregate samples for the purpose of performance testing, and participation in pre-construction meetings with the Agency to assist in answering technical or logistics questions; and the assessment during a job, of the adequacy of the finished mat, the recommendation for adjustments to the system components and equipment, and the assistance in the delivery and usage of Road Science components.

Formulation Services. When Road Science provides emulsion, asphalt cement or other components, we will formulate and test such emulsions and binders in a laboratory environment, prior to commercial production. This service also ensures that the finished product and components meet any and all required specifications including performance tests not prescribed by current agency liquid specifications.

Mix Design Services. Gradation tests, aggregate blend and asphalt and compatibility tests and calculating estimated target asphalt content. The result will be a job mix formula that meets the specifications of the job.

Performance Testing Services. Specified performance tests (e.g. abrasion, raveling, curing, bonding, cracking, rutting), determination of the performance properties, and provide reports.

Crew Training Services. Training on all aspects of the Road Science system, in both a classroom setting (concentration on overview of the technologies from materials selection and design to laydown operations, basic machine components, basic machine operation, typical crew member composition and functions of individual members, basic project layout and construction techniques, basic machine troubleshooting techniques, typical project specifications review, troubleshooting finished pavement appearance problems and potential corrections) and field training on machine operation.

Development Services. Road Science will continue to advance our systems through product development efforts like: developing new applications for customers’ needs; utilizing local materials to meet required specifications of a Road Science system; developing equipment improvements/advancements; and leveraging university and industry research.
