Stylink® Hot Mix

Stylink® polymer modified asphalt technology is used in hot mix to improve the durability and performance of today’s roads. Stylink® PMAC’s chemically crosslinked structure exceeds the performance expectations of conventional and other modified binders by providing improved resistance to traditional problems like rutting, thermal cracking and fatigue damage. The Stylink® binder is engineered to meet the specific need, both in performance on the road, and in the ease of handling and construction. As a result, hot mix applications using Stylink® technology are better able to handle variable climatic conditions and the high stress of heavy traffic, thereby minimizing or eliminating catastrophic failures.

Since 1984, the use of Stylink® technology for a multitude of applications has increased tremendously with more than 2 million liquid tons now in service, proving Stylink® as a workable and reliable technology in improving pavement life. From John F. Kennedy airport in New York, to I-10 in the California desert, and I-80 in the Pennsylvania mountains, engineers across the U.S. and Canada and throughout the world have been using Stylink® PMAC to solve their paving problems.

Applications for Stylink® binders:

Highways and streets

  • High-traffic interstates, tollways and freeways
  • Slow speed/heavily loaded intersections, beltways, main thoroughfares, bus lanes, etc.
  • High macro-texture drainage layer and noise abatement
  • PCC rehabilitation (concrete overlays)
  • Anywhere longer lasting pavements and lower life cycle costs are wanted

Specialty paving applications

  • Truck scales/toll booths
  • Bridges
  • Tunnels
  • Parking lots

Airports

  • Taxiways/end of runway
  • Runways
  • Service roads
  • Parking lots

Seaport loading docks

  • Container staging areas
  • Parking and storage areas

Advantages of Stylink® Modified HMA

  • Improved overall performance
  • Better resistance to thermal cracking
  • Improved resistance to rutting
  • Resistance to raveling
  • Improved resistance to moisture damage
  • Longer pavement life
  • Avoidance of catastrophic failures
  • Longer term cost savings

Stylink® Saves Money in the Long Run.

Stylink® comes out ahead in terms of overall life-cycle costs, too. Stylink® products may cost a little more initially. But their exceptional performance means significant savings in the long run. Catastrophic failures are avoided. And the time between resurfacing cycles is longer. Results from the field indicate that on average Stylink® PMAC represents a 16% increase in initial cost for a typical paving project, but you can usually expect a minimum of a 25% increase in service life.
