About

From liquid asphalt sales and one primary technology in 1993, to dynamic product development and one of the world’s most advanced asphalt pavement technology laboratories in the world, our identity has deep roots.

Elf & Koch Materials

Elf & Koch Materials

In the early 1990s, Elf Asphalt was operating as a polymer modified asphalt and emulsion company, while Koch Materials enjoyed success as the largest liquid asphalt company in the U.S. With the acquisition of Elf in 1993, Koch Materials now owned its first branded product, Stylink®, a polymer modified asphalt cement (PMAC) technology. This marked the company’s entrance into the market for high performace products. Over the next 12 years, Koch Materials acquired, licensed and developed nine additional branded technologies (NovaChip®, Ralumac® *, Recycle Plus®, ReFlex®, Restore®, Strata®, RoadArmor®, Encore® and Fortress®) and pioneered the concept of offering field services to support their use and application.

  • Adopted a consultative approach to building business relationships with customers.
  • Increased the adoption of its technologies by focusing on contractor and manufacturer licensing.
  • Constructed one of the world’s most advanced asphalt pavement technology laboratories in Tulsa, OK.
  • Advanced technologies in the categories of ultrathin overlays, cold in-place and hot in-place recycling, microsurfacing, base stabilization, high performance chip seals, and fatigue resistant pavements.
